Eivind Aadland renews in Tasmania
Eivind Aadland has extended his contract as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra until the end of 2028. He first conducted the orchestra in 2018 and took up the position in 2020, renewing for the first timein 2022.

This a truly generous gesture – one that strengthens the connection between Tasmania and the rest of the world, expands our artistic frame of reference and sets a global benchmark for artistic leadership.'
Aadland said, 'I've really enjoyed my time with the TSO and I think we will have many more opportunities to make beautiful things together.'
Aadland recently recorded Bartók's Divertimento and Music for Strings, Percussion & Celesta with the orchestra and future plans include two Beethoven symphonies. On his next visit to the orchestra in March 2026 he conducts Mahler's Symphony no.1, 'Titan', as well as Ravel, Biber, Schubert and Sdraulig.
