‘You will not hear better string quartet playing anywhere in the world today’
The Takács Quartet is widely regarded as one of today’s leading string quartets. Founded in Budapest in 1975, the group has sustained its musical excellence across five decades, bringing integrity, insight and expressiveness to core repertoire and new music alike. They continue to enrich the chamber music landscape through new commissions and creative projects. Since 1986, the quartet has held a residency at the University of Colorado, Boulder, combining an extensive international touring career with a strong commitment to teaching. They are frequent guests at the world’s leading festivals and concert halls, including as Associate Artists at Wigmore Hall. Their recordings have received numerous accolades, including Grammy and Gramophone Awards, and since 2005 they have recorded exclusively for Hyperion.
‘Our priority is always to dig deep into the character of the music and what we’re trying to convey’
