O/Modernt (Swedish for ‘Un/Modern’) is a Swedish cultural organisation founded in 2011 by violinist and conductor Hugo Ticciati. At its heart is the O/Modernt Chamber Orchestra, an extended group of distinguished musicians who come together in different formations, from small chamber ensembles to larger groups. O/Modernt brings music from different periods, styles and traditions into conversation, creating programmes that make connections between works that might not otherwise be heard together, revealing unanticipated connections and contrasts.
Under Ticciati’s direction, O/Modernt presents concerts and projects across Europe and beyond, rethinking the conventional concert format and creating space for unexpected musical encounters, in the spirit of uncompromising artistic quality and embracing reinvention.
