Richard Farnes appointed CBE

Richard Farnes has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in this year's UK New Year Honours List, for services to music. The awards recognise 'the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK'. 

Farnes has previously won prestigious awards including the 2017 Royal Philharmonic Society Conductor of the Year Award, Lifetime Achievement Award at the Critics' Circle Music Awards and the Achievement in Opera Award at the UK Theatre Awards.

He conducts La Bohème at this year's The Grange Festival (2 June to 11 July).
