Ruhrtriennale artistic director Johan Simons' new production of Alceste opened the festival on Friday evening. With René Jacobs conducting the B'Rock Orchestra and the MusicAeterna Chorus of the Perm State Opera and Ballet Theatre, the cast also features Birgitte Christensen in the title role and Thomas Walker as Admeto.
