Ilan Volkov conducts Ensemble Intercontemporain
On Tuesday 9 February, Ilan conducts Traîtres Mots at Philharmonie de Paris with Ensemble Intercontemporain, a programme essentially designed around words and their use in music.
Beckett's Words and Music, originally commissioned for the radio by the BBC in 1962 (with Morton Feldman), has been revisited in a fully staged version by Ivan Fedele who has created 3 characters, Words, Music and Croak, unable to get along and find a way to listen to each other.
The 2 other pieces, Fringes by Felipe Lara (commissioned by Ensemble Intercontemporain) and Kassandra by François-Bernard Mâche, both explore the borders of theatricality and the use of space in music.
This very visual concert, first performed tonight in Paris, will also be performed in Cologne on 12 February.
