François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles tour Europe
François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles celebrate their 20th anniversary and this year's centenary of György Ligeti with an extensive tour of Europe this summer, starting on 24 July at Festival Radio France in Montpellier.
Their programmes combine Ligeti and Mozart, including Ligeti's Concerto Românesc and Violin Concerto, with soloist Isabelle Faust, and Mozart's Symphony no.41, 'Jupiter', and Piano Concerto no.23 with pianist Alexander Melnikov. The orchestra performs on historically accurate instruments and for this tour they will play Mozart on classical instruments and Ligeti on modern ones.
To mark the two anniverseries, Harmonia Mundi has released remastered versions of Roth's and Les Siècles' 2016 recordings of Ligeti's Kammerkonzert, Six Bagatelles and Ten Pieces for wind quintet.
Their 14-stop tour includes the Salzburg Festival and Lucerne Festival, as well the BBC Proms:
