Elena Urioste honoured by Royal Academy of Music

Violinist Elena Urioste has been awarded an Honorary Membership of the Royal Academy of Music (Hon RAM), one of the institution's highest distinctions.

Honorary Membership is awarded to 300 distinguished musicians who did not study at the Academy, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the profession. Urioste joins an illustrious group of performers, composers and educators to have received the honour, which will be presented at a ceremony in April.

Urioste's latest album, Thème varié, with pianist Tom Poster, features lesser-known French and Belgian repertoire including by Lekeu, Bonis, Sohy, Barraine, Messiaen and Saint-Saëns. It is released on 17 July on Chandos.
