Eivind Aadland conducts The Norwegian National Youth Orchestra on Tour
Eivind Aadland conducts Ungdomssymfonikerne (The Norwegian National Youth Orchestra) on tour. The first concert takes place on August 9 at Terningen Arena, Elverum; then on tour to Tivoli Copenhagen, August 11; Konzerthaus, Berlin, August 13; and finally Den Norske Opera, Oslo, August 16. The youth orchestra will play an intereseting and challenging programme: Vaage's Tjat, Sibelius' Violin Concerto with violinist Henning Kraggerud and Mahler's Symphony no. 1.
The Norwegian National Youth Orchestra is known for its high musical standard, and is counted among the best of its kind in Europe. The orchestra is reformed every year, with the aim of giving young musicians on their way to a professional career experience of playing in a fully developed symphony orchestra. Hundreds of musicians have played in the orchestra, many of them later joining professional orchestras both in Norway and abroad.
The orchestra recruits highly qualified music students from across Norway, as well as from Nordic and European institutions. In intense summer schools, around a hundred students have an opportunity to work with top quality teachers, conductors and soloists. Every year, the Norwegian National Youth Orchestra presents concert programmes at Festspillene på Elverum and in other concert halls and contexts both at home and abroad.
