Alfred Brendel receives Echo Klassik
Alfred Brendel has been awarded an Echo Klassik in recognition of a lifetime of achievement. He will accept the award personally in a ceremony at the Berlin Konzerthaus on 09 October.
Dieter Gorny, CEO of the Federation of the Phonographic Industry (BVMI) who confer the award, said "Alfred Brendel is a living legend, a musician and artist whose preoccupation with painting, literature and philosophy makes him a fully-rounded individual. His seminal recordings continue to influence countless young artists".
Alfred Brendel has enjoyed a 60-year career, during which he performed across the world. Having retired from playing the piano in 2008, he continues to give lectures throughout the UK and Europe.
