Jamie Phillips
infectious joy in making music
Jamie Phillips’ penetrating insight, innate musicality and infectious joy in music-making have made him a regular presence on platforms both in the UK and across Europe. A natural story-teller with a curiosity for all repertoire, he specialises particularly in Central European, British Romantic and 20th-century music. His clear and expressive technique earn him frequent reinvitations to orchestras including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
In 2024–25 Phillips returns to Theater St Gallen to conduct Hänsel und Gretel and lead the city’s New Year celebrations with Sinfonieorchester St Gallen. He also goes back to Württemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen with a programme of Anna Clyne, Rachmaninoff and Elgar, and to Norwegian Radio Orchestra with Elgar and Gavin Higgins’ Horn Concerto.
Last season his UK performances included with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, and across Europe with Munich Radio Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Aalborg Symphony, as well as conducting Philharmonie Zuidnederland in Pina Bausch’s production of The Rite of Spring.
